Nile Cruise - What is it?
Life for a tourist in Egypt can be
bumpy and full of surprises. You may find the best laid plans
don't get followed, but this is just part of the adventure
that is Egypt. A Nile Cruise is different. It is a island
of organization floating through a world of cheerful chaos.

However, once you go aboard a Nile Cruise Ship, you can totally
relax in a completely controlled environment, where bells annouce
dinner, room service leaves origami crocodile-shaped towels, and
tour guides smooth out any ruffles as you visit the ancient sites
along the Nile. If you like your home comforts, and your idea of
roughing it is having only three TV channels, then the Nile Cruise
is going to be your cup of tea. Of course, regulation does have a
downside - imagine trying to see Karnak in 90 minutes! However, if
you want your supper at 7PM, and a on-time departure for the next
stop, that's the way it is.
Our cruise was with Presidential Nile Cruises. Our ship was the
Nile Admiral. It's polished woodwork, cosy cabins, and afternoon
tea seemed like something out of an Agatha Christie story - but the
only thing that was murdered was the dessert table.

We were told there were 400 cruise ships on the
river in the high season, and we experience an amazing "stack-up"
of Nile cruise ships docking to see the temple at Kom Ombo. We had
to walk through two other cruise ships to get to the dock.
