The Temple of
Luxor is located on the Corniche in Luxor, beside the
Nile. You should be able to see the Temple in one half
day.
Take plenty
of time to see the beautiful reliefs in the Processional
Colonade. Explore all the way to the back to see the
rooms beyond the colonade, some of which have Greco-Roman
additions.
You should
also walk out from the front pylon, down the Avenue of
Spinxes and then walk back toward the Temple to imagine
it as it would have been in it's day.
While you are
on the Corniche take a carriage ride out to Crocodile
Island to enjoy the countryside. Crocodile Island is the
site of the Movenpick Jolie Hotel. We found this carriage
ride, at twilight, to be one of the most memorable parts
of our trip.
Also, there
is a new museum of mummification on the Corniche. In
fact, I strongly recommend you take a stroll along the
Corniche.
Karnak is
close by, but it is so large and complex, I think it
deserves a full day and a booking for the evening Sound
and Light show.
