| On November 26, 1922, Howard Carter looked through a
small opening that had been chipped in a 3000 year old wall
and saw the glittering chaos of the ante room of the Tomb of
Tutankhamun.
"Can you see anything,?"asked Lord Carnarvon.
"Yes, wonderful things," replied Carter.
The Tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings, Luxor,
Egypt is empty now except for the inner coffin and body of the
famous Pharaoh. He alone remains, of all the Pharaohs of
Egypt, in the Valley of the Kings. That is, if there are no
intact tombs to be discovered.

Most of the "wonderful
things" are in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. You
can see beautiful reproductions of many of the most important
objects at the Tomb and Museum of King Tutankhamun at the Luxor
Las Vegas Hotel.

The size of the tomb is surprising.
It was very small compared to the other tombs of the
Pharaohs. Its decoration is colorful but not
extensive. It was prepared in great haste, using a
tomb that had been cut for a noble at the court, not a
Pharaoh.

But its contents were "fit for a
King."
